Gyeonggi Office of Education Receives 15 Applications for Purchased Kindergarten Recruitment
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on the 11th that 15 kindergartens in the province have applied for the 'Building Purchase Type Public Kindergarten' (Purchase Type Kindergarten) project, which involves purchasing private kindergartens and converting them into public ones.
The Purchase Type Kindergarten was introduced nationwide last year to increase the enrollment rate in public kindergartens and strengthen the public nature of early childhood education.
The education authorities purchase and renovate private kindergarten buildings and sites that meet certain criteria and then convert them into public kindergartens.
After selecting 14 Purchase Type Kindergartens last year, the Gyeonggi Office of Education conducted internal remodeling, teacher placement, and student recruitment, and newly opened them as public kindergartens in March.
