Tongyeong Coast Guard Conducts 2020 National Safety Inspection for Passenger and Cargo Ships

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Tongyeong Maritime Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 11th that it will conduct the '2020 National Safety Inspection for Passenger and Cargo Ships,' which was postponed due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), from the 15th to July 10th.
The inspection targets 18 passenger and cargo ships in Tongyeong that are over 5 tons, have a ship age exceeding 20 years, or have had accident records in the past three years.
Facilities at 12 piers where these vessels dock and depart will also be inspected.
This inspection will be carried out by forming a joint inspection team composed of experts from each field to implement improvements.

Kim Pyeonghan, Chief of Tongyeong Maritime Police Station, said, "We will conduct thorough inspections to prevent safety accidents involving passenger and cargo ships," and urged, "We ask businesses to also strengthen their own safety management."
