Gyeongsang National University Achieves Success by Being Selected for Specialized Fields in Life Sciences and Nano-New Materials
Up to 14 Billion KRW in National Funding Support Over 9 Years Until 2029
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongsang National University announced on the 10th that two research institutes were selected for the 2020 'University Focused Research Institute Support Project in Science and Engineering Fields' supported by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea, receiving up to 14 billion KRW over 9 years until 2029.
Among the two selected research institutes, the 'Green Energy Convergence Research Institute' will receive a total project fund of 8 billion KRW, including 7 billion KRW in national funds over the next 9 years, supported by Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Jinju City, Gyeongsang National University, and energy-related industries.
Additionally, the 'Plant Life Biotechnology Research Institute' will receive a total project fund of 7.7 billion KRW, including 7 billion KRW in national funds over 9 years, supported by Gyeongsangnam-do Province, Jinju City, and Gyeongsang National University.
When combining government and Gyeongsangnam-do support funds with Gyeongsang National University's own investment, the two research institutes will intensively invest approximately 15.7 billion KRW over 9 years in the university's specialized fields, which is expected to greatly aid in discovering and nurturing outstanding talent.
