Busanjin Police Station announced on the 10th that they summoned and investigated Chief Prosecutor A of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office as a suspect on the 9th.
Prosecutor A is accused of placing his hand on the shoulder of a woman walking near Yangjeong Station on Busan Metro Line 1 around 11:20 p.m. on the 1st of this month, making physical contact.
After the molestation, Prosecutor A continued to follow the woman to City Hall Station, one stop away, and was caught at the scene after the victim reported to the police.
Prosecutor A, accompanied by a lawyer during the police investigation, reportedly stated that he did not remember due to being intoxicated. A police official said, "We cannot disclose the details of the investigation."
Prosecutor A went to work normally for four days after the incident, but after CCTV footage of the molestation was released to the media, the Busan District Prosecutors' Office excluded Prosecutor A from duties in the form of a leave of absence the next day.
