Son Heung-min Joins Campaign to Find Recipients of the Mugunghwa Medal for Military Merit
[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] Son Heung-min (28, Tottenham), recognized as a 'world-class' player in England's professional football Premier League (EPL), is joining the campaign to find war heroes who did not receive military merit medals.
Son Heung-min participated in the 'Finding the Recipients of the Korean War Military Merit Medals' campaign policy advertisement, which began airing on the 10th, as a form of talent donation. The Army has been conducting a campaign to find war heroes who did not receive military merit medals due to the absence of records such as service numbers, and Son Heung-min is known to have readily agreed to participate. To take part in the advertisement, Son completed three weeks of basic military training last month and finished filming just before departing the country.
The policy advertisement features the scene of Son Heung-min's '70m dribble wonder goal' against Burnley last December. It encourages participation in the campaign by linking it to the significance of the 70th anniversary of the Korean War and expresses wishes for the growth of the Republic of Korea.
Son Heung-min said, "Becoming a national representative and playing on the world stage was possible because of the heroes who protected our country, and I offer them my respect and gratitude," urging the public to actively participate in the campaign.
