At the signing ceremony, Mayor Ju Nak-young, Park Yoo-sun, head of the Save the Children Eastern Branch, Jeong In-sook, director of the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation Gyeongbuk Child Advocacy Center, and Park Se-jung, head of the Good Neighbors Daegu Gyeongbuk Sharing Character Education Center, attended and pledged to work together to create a UNICEF Child-Friendly City.
The organizations that signed the agreement are leading domestic and international child relief NGOs (non-governmental organizations) working to promote children's rights to survival, protection, development, and participation. A UNICEF Child-Friendly City refers to a local government that fully realizes the rights of children as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and provides an environment where children can live better lives.

Mayor Ju Nak-young of Gyeongju said, "With this agreement, Gyeongju City will be able to accelerate its plan to obtain the 'UNICEF Child-Friendly City' certification," and added, "We will cooperate with child rights organizations to ensure children's rights are guaranteed and make Gyeongju, home to about 35,000 children, a respectful and happy child-friendly city."
