Mark Lippert, Former U.S. Ambassador to Korea, Works on YouTube
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert has been appointed to oversee government and policy operations for YouTube in the Asia-Pacific region.
Google announced on the 9th that Lippert has been working as the head of policy for YouTube Asia-Pacific since last month.
He is serving as the head of government and policy-related operations for various Asian countries, including South Korea, at YouTube's Asia-Pacific headquarters located in Singapore.
Google stated, "Director Lippert has extensive experience in policy and a deep understanding of the Asia region," adding, "He will lead public policy strategies and represent YouTube to policymakers in the dynamic and rapidly growing Asia-Pacific region."

Director Lippert served in the Obama administration as Deputy Assistant to the President for the National Security Council (NSC), Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asia-Pacific Security. In October 2014, at the age of 41, he was appointed as the youngest-ever U.S. Ambassador to South Korea. He stepped down from his ambassadorial post in January 2017 when the U.S. administration transitioned to the Donald Trump administration and subsequently worked as a Vice President at Boeing.
