Changwon National University Mechatronics Research Institute Selected for Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's 'Energy Technology Project'
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Changwon National University announced on the 8th that its Mechatronics Research Institute has been finally selected for the '2020 Energy Technology Development Project' supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The 'Energy Technology Development Project' is a project aimed at responding to changes in the energy environment and achieving new growth engines for the energy industry.
Gyeongsangnam-do, Changwon City, Gyeongnam Technopark, Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute, Gyeongnam National University, Chosun University, World Power Tech, and Centec will participate and carry out the project for six years until 2025 with about 21.6 billion KRW in government support. Changwon National University, receiving 2.2 billion KRW from the government, plans to conduct a project to revitalize the domestic CNC-based industrial machinery remanufacturing sector.
The Mechatronics Research Institute at Changwon National University plans to play a central role in resource and energy reduction effects through remanufacturing, which involves collaboration between universities, companies, and local governments to collect waste or exchanged goods and restore them to a state close to new products.

Professor Seol Sang-seok of the Mechatronics Research Institute at Changwon National University said, "Through the project to upgrade and promote the domestic CNC-based industrial machinery remanufacturing, we will establish a diverse commercialization ecosystem including fostering specialized companies related to remanufacturing and training specialized personnel, serving as a stepping stone for industry-academia cooperation."
