[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] The group BTS cheered on the future of graduates around the world.
BTS participated in the online virtual graduation ceremony "Dear Class of 2020," hosted by YouTube, on the afternoon of the 7th (U.S. time).
YouTube planned this virtual graduation ceremony to celebrate university and high school students worldwide who found in-person graduations difficult due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and BTS was the only Korean artist to attend.
Leader RM opened by saying, "2020 has been a year full of many events," and added, "Although there are no bouquets or graduation caps today, this will be the most special graduation ceremony in history."
He continued, "In music, in each other's hearts, in the time breaking through our limits, we are alone but always together. Right now, we are looking at each other through small cameras and monitors, but the future you will blossom is much bigger and more beautiful."
Jungkook said, "Members were always there at the beginning and end of high school. Watching videos taken back then recently, I thought, 'Did that kid really grow up to become me?'" He added, "The current me is here believing in myself, believing in the members, and believing in the world. I hope you all take one step at a time for yourselves and keep running endlessly."
Jin said, "If you take your time and step forward sincerely, even if slowly, you will see precious things you didn't know before."
Suga encouraged, "Your potential is infinite. I never dreamed I would become BTS."
Jimin comforted, "I hope everyone is doing well, but if you are not feeling okay even a little, I want to comfort you with all my heart. Please remember that there is someone who understands me here in Seoul, South Korea."
J-Hope said, "You will constantly doubt whether you are doing well or if you will fail if you continue like this. At times like that, please remember that you are the one leading your life."
V advised, "If you are unsure about what to do as graduation approaches, try leaning on your true feelings."
After their speeches, the members also held a ceremony throwing their graduation caps.
The event featured speakers including former U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and pop star Beyonc?.
