View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Mokpo Coast Guard held a memorial event to honor the patriotic spirits of fallen and deceased heroes and to commemorate the spirit of love for the country in June, the Month of National Defense and Veterans, and the 65th Memorial Day.
According to Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Jeong Young-jin) on the 8th, a Memorial Day ceremony was held at 9 a.m. on the 6th, Memorial Day, at Bukhang Sunset Park, with about 30 participants including Chief Jeong Young-jin, department heads, ship and vessel captains, and police officers, to remember and honor those who dedicated themselves to the nation.
The ceremony proceeded in a solemn atmosphere with the declaration of the opening ceremony, national salute, silent tribute to the spirits of the patriotic martyrs and national heroes, and the laying of flowers and incense offering.
Following this, a memorial event was held for the late Lieutenant Park Kyung-jo, who died in the line of duty after being struck with a blunt weapon by a crew member while cracking down on an illegally operating Chinese fishing vessel 73 km west of Gageodo, Heuksan-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do, on September 26, 2008, honoring his spirit of sacrifice.
