Ulsan City will hold the ‘2020 Family-Friendly Certification Briefing and Consulting’ session at 2 p.m. on the 8th at the Ulsan Family Culture Center.
Organized by the Family-Friendly Certification Office of the Korea Management Certification Institute, this event is designed to help corporate and public institution officials understand the family-friendly system and provide necessary information.
On the day of the event, about 40 participants from local companies and public institutions interested in or preparing for family-friendly certification will receive guidance on evaluation criteria for each assessment item, and group expert consulting will be conducted to help the system establish itself more effectively.
The ‘Family-Friendly Certification System’ is a system in which the Minister of Gender Equality and Family certifies companies and public institutions that exemplary operate support for childbirth and child-rearing, flexible working hours, on-time leaving systems, and other measures so that workers can harmoniously balance work and life.
In the Ulsan area, since Korea East-West Power obtained family-friendly certification in 2010, 48 companies and public institutions have acquired certification as of the end of last year.
The nine new certified entities last year attracted attention as they were all small and medium-sized enterprises, including ‘Geumyoung ETS’ in Buk-gu, Ulsan.
Companies that receive family-friendly certification not only improve workers’ job satisfaction but can also use the family-friendly certification mark on their products and business cards, enhancing corporate reputation.
A city official said, “With the social atmosphere emphasizing balance between work and family and changes in workers’ awareness, it is expected that the number of participating companies will gradually increase in terms of retaining excellent talent and securing corporate competitiveness.”
