Survey of 500 Yeongdeungpo Residents Aged 19 and Over Shows 79.8% Rate Yeongdeungpo Administration as 'Doing Well'... Highest Satisfaction with Yeongdeungpo Station Street Vendor Regulation... Listening to Residents' Opinions Achieved 50-Year Goal... High Satisfaction in Education and Safety... 90.3% Rate COVID-19 Response as Effective
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) conducted a resident satisfaction survey at the turning point of the 7th local government administration, and as a result, 8 out of 10 residents answered that they were "satisfied" (79.8%).
This figure is 22.6 percentage points higher than the survey conducted in June last year.
The resident satisfaction survey was conducted to evaluate the district administration over the past two years at the start of the third year of the 7th local government administration, actively gather residents' opinions, and reflect them in future district policies. It was conducted through telephone interviews with 500 residents aged 19 and over from May 11 to 30, with appropriate allocation by residence and gender.
First, in response to the question "How satisfied are you with the Yeongdeungpo-gu administration under the 7th local government?", 79.8% answered "satisfied," which is a 22.6 percentage point increase compared to last year.
The reasons were ranked as follows: ▲Because results are appearing (39.4%) ▲Because efforts are made to communicate with residents (25.3%) ▲Because new and innovative policies are increasing (21.4%).
Next, the satisfaction rate by sector for the five major district goals?'Education, Economy, Safety, Welfare, Democracy'?was an average of 85.08%. In particular, there was strong agreement in the fields of Education (88.7%) and Safety (86%).
The district created a safe environment for parents and students by establishing ▲car-free streets ▲color pedestrian paths ▲LED floor traffic lights on school commuting routes, and in September last year, designated all elementary, middle, and high school commuting routes in the area as smoke-free zones for the first time nationwide.
Along with this, the district is doing its best to improve the quality of education through reading by establishing village libraries in all neighborhoods and promoting the construction of a large library on the former MBC site and the Singil Culture and Sports Library.
Next, the project that residents were most satisfied with during the 7th local government was the reorganization of street vendors in front of Yeongdeungpo Station (71.5%, multiple responses). This was a 50-year-long local wish shared by about 1,000 residents, where about 70 illegal street vendors disappeared and transformed into street shops, providing a wide pedestrian walkway.
Following this were the redevelopment of shantytowns and red-light districts (38.4%) and the demolition of the Yeongdeungpo rotary overpass (36.8%).
The district's COVID-19 response satisfaction rate was 90.3%, with 9 out of 10 residents expressing satisfaction. Residents were most satisfied with safety text messages sent regarding confirmed patients' movement routes (32.6%), followed by support for vulnerable groups with prevention kits including masks (22.6%), and the rapid disclosure of confirmed cases and movement routes (21.1%).
The results of this survey, which gathered residents' opinions, will be actively reflected in the operation of the district administration in the third year of the 7th local government to make every effort to increase resident satisfaction.
