[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) announced that it was honored to be selected as the best district in Seoul and an excellent district among 226 basic local governments nationwide in the ‘2019 Food Safety and Hygiene Evaluation’.
Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety evaluated 226 basic local governments nationwide and 25 districts in Seoul based on indicators covering overall food hygiene management such as food safety management infrastructure, hygiene business guidance and inspection, complaint handling, food poisoning control, origin management, and administrative services.
Dongdaemun-gu consistently promoted sodium reduction projects in general restaurants and collective catering facilities, designated 180 restaurants practicing low-sodium diets, achieved high performance in food hygiene management including on-site guidance and education for food poisoning prevention, and received high evaluations by continuously cracking down on harmful businesses such as tea houses.
The district plans to use the incentive project fund of 32 million KRW for COVID-19 prevention publicity and food poisoning prevention management to improve the level of food culture that residents can feel.
