'Festival of Technicians' Ulsan Skills Competition Kicks Off on the 8th
Ulsan Technical High School and 5 Other Venues Until the 12th... Jeonbuk Competition Qualifiers, 221 Competitors in 35 Categories Compete
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The '2020 Ulsan City Skills Competition,' which was postponed due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), will be held for five days from the 8th to the 12th at six venues including Ulsan Technical High School.
A total of 221 athletes will compete in 35 occupations in this competition hosted by Ulsan City and the Ulsan City Skills Competition Committee.
By venue, 102 participants will compete in 16 occupations such as CNC and milling at the first venue, Ulsan Technical High School. At the second venue, Ulsan Anywon High School, 34 participants will compete in 6 occupations including game development, and at the third venue, Ulsan Industrial High School, 31 participants will compete in 4 occupations including agricultural machinery maintenance.
Additionally, at the fourth venue, Hyundai Technical High School, 21 participants will compete in 3 occupations including mechanical equipment and CAD; at the fifth venue, Ulsan Meister High School, 19 participants will compete in 3 occupations including mold making; and at the sixth venue, Dongwon Institute of Science and Technology, 14 participants will compete in 3 occupations including automobile maintenance.
However, due to COVID-19, the opening ceremony, awards ceremony, and side events have been canceled, focusing solely on selecting outstanding athletes.
Winners in each occupation will be exempted from the qualification exam for the relevant occupational technician certificate and will be eligible to participate as representatives of Ulsan in the 55th National Skills Competition to be held in Jeollabuk-do this September.

Meanwhile, starting this year, the age restriction for participation in the competition has been lifted due to the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Skilled Technology Promotion Act, expanding the eligibility for participation. During the competition period, thorough quarantine measures will be implemented in cooperation with related organizations, including conducting temperature checks at each venue and deploying professional healthcare personnel to prevent local infections.
