According to local media on the 7th, around 1:40 PM the previous day, an army MI-17 helicopter crashed near Kendal, close to Semarang in Central Java, during a flight training exercise, resulting in 9 casualties.
The military authorities stated, "There were no abnormalities found during the pre-flight inspection of the accident helicopter," and have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
