According to the international statistics site Worldometer, as of 11 PM Greenwich Mean Time, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide was 6,949,545, and deaths totaled 401,061.
Since the first death was reported in Wuhan, China on January 10, it took about three months for the death toll to exceed 100,000, but it took only 23 days for the number of deaths to increase from 300,000 to 400,000, foreign media reported.
As of this date, new confirmed cases increased significantly in the United States, Brazil, India, Russia, and Chile, in that order.
By country, the United States accounted for 1,987,175 confirmed cases, representing 29% of the total confirmed cases. Brazil, which exceeded 650,000 cases, ranked second in terms of confirmed cases, followed by Russia (458,689), Spain (288,390), and the United Kingdom (284,868).

The number of deaths was highest in the United States (112,057), followed by the United Kingdom (40,465), Brazil (35,456), Italy (33,846), and France (29,142).
