Statistics Korea Holds Online Launch Ceremony for University Students' Statistical Education Volunteer Group
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] On the 5th, Statistics Korea announced that it will hold the 6th term university student statistics education volunteer group online inauguration ceremony. This inauguration ceremony will be held for about one hour through Naver Band Live as part of social distancing measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Statistics Korea selected 44 teams totaling 235 university students for the volunteer group who will help students, the future leaders of society, grow into creative convergence talents with statistical thinking skills. The volunteer group will visit elementary, middle, and high schools that have applied for statistics education and provide customized statistics education during class hours, after-school learning, Saturday schools, and vacation camps.
With the spread of practical statistics education that allows experiencing the statistical problem-solving process, interest in statistics education at all school levels is increasing along with requests for education. In response to this situation, Statistics Korea plans to further expand the activities of the volunteer group so that more schools can benefit.

Commissioner Kang Shin-wook, in a video greeting, said, "Statistical literacy is essential in modern society," and urged, "Please do your best to guide students so that they can easily understand and effectively utilize statistics."
