Smilegate Expands Online Creative Education Based on 'Micro:bit'
Sharing Everything from Coding to Prototype Production Online
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] Smilegate Future Lab announced on the 5th that it will expand its online creative workshops based on the creative coding tool 'micro:bit' to address the difficulties faced in the education field due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Micro:bit is a creative educational tool for youth developed by the micro:bit Educational Foundation under the British public broadcaster BBC. It is equipped with LEDs, sensors, and wireless communication on a small board, allowing users to easily implement various functions from simple games to robots and electronic instruments by inputting coded programs.
Future Lab has partnered with the BBC Educational Foundation to support the creative growth of domestic youth and has been providing opportunities for anyone to easily experience coding.
The theme of this workshop was set as "do your bit," reflecting the use of micro:bit. The workshop will be held three times on the 10th, 17th, and 19th. Using micro:bits and various craft materials delivered to participants' homes by Future Lab, the entire process from coding to prototype production will be shared online.
