2,508 After-School Instructors and Others Deployed to School Sites
Over 68,000 Students in the Province Return to Schools on the 3rd
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Geon-ju] On the 3rd, when the third phase of staggered school attendance for kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high schools in Jeonbuk took place, the Jeonbuk Office of Education began supporting personnel needed for education and quarantine at school sites.
According to the Office of Education, 2,508 volunteer personnel were appointed to support school quarantine activities and deployed to school sites.
The purpose is to ensure safe educational activities during in-person classes amid the COVID-19 situation, to stabilize academic operations early, and to reduce teachers' workload.
The support personnel were primarily appointed from after-school instructors, retired teachers, and parents. The appointment period is about two months, with 4 to 5 hours of support per day.
They will play roles in 'student protection quarantine support' such as mask-wearing, temperature checks, managing quarantine supplies, supporting health room tasks, and 'life guidance support' at school sites.
Additionally, if necessary, they will also assist in learning support such as creating a conducive learning environment for lower grades and supporting class preparation materials.
An official from the Office of Education said, "Since the resumption of in-person classes, schools have faced many difficulties due to educational activities, quarantine activities, and parental inquiries," adding, "We will ensure effective quarantine activities and learning support through personnel assistance."
Meanwhile, on the 3rd, the total number of students attending school in the province's elementary, middle, and high schools was 68,243, including 34,303 third and fourth graders in elementary school, 16,494 second graders in middle school, and 17,383 first graders in high school.
