Kakao Blockchain-Based Digital Wallet 'Klip' Launched
Use Your Kakao Account for Sign-Up and Login as Is
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] GroundX, Kakao's blockchain technology affiliate, announced on the 3rd the launch of 'Klip,' a mobile wallet service that allows easy storage of blockchain-based digital assets.
Klip is a digital asset wallet service accessible through KakaoTalk. Digital assets refer to all types of information and data recognized as assets in an online environment. Typical examples include game items and virtual points. Recently, with the advancement of blockchain technology, online activity data and user-generated content have also been recognized for their asset value.
Klip was developed to enable users to easily access digital assets on their smartphones. It can be used without installing a separate app by accessing the 'More' tab at the bottom right of the KakaoTalk mobile app and selecting the 'All Services' menu. Users can sign up and log in using their existing Kakao accounts.
Klip users can store digital assets obtained from 'BApp,' a Klaytn-based blockchain application, or send them to KakaoTalk friends. Klaytn is a global public blockchain platform launched by GroundX in June last year.
Users can easily send and receive digital assets using their KakaoTalk friend list within Klip. It can be used without knowing the complex blockchain wallet addresses. The transfer speed of digital assets is as fast as typical mobile banking transfers, and no fees are charged.
To ensure secure digital asset storage, the service's security has been enhanced. Using GroundX's proprietary 'Key Management Service' technology, security keys are stored in an encrypted form. This makes it convenient as users do not need to manage security keys themselves, and there is no risk of security key leakage due to hacking.
