Chungnam Strengthens Forest Pest Monitoring and Control Measures
[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will operate the ‘Forest Pest Monitoring and Control Headquarters’ until the end of August.
According to the province on the 2nd, the headquarters will be established in 17 locations including the provincial government office, the Forest Resources Research Institute, and 15 cities and counties within the province, with a control budget of 10 billion KRW to carry out forest pest control activities.
The headquarters will first deploy 48 forest pest monitoring and control personnel to cities, counties, and business offices to minimize damage caused by forest pests, strengthening monitoring activities inside and outside forests as well as in parks around residential areas.
In addition, to improve the income of chestnut farms where control work is difficult due to the aging rural workforce, aerial pest control will be actively supported.
