Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education Elects ‘Park Sejong Secretary’ as First Open Recruitment Public Relations Officer

The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 1st that Park Se-jong, secretary, was elected through an open recruitment process as the new open-type public relations officer.
This open-type position of public relations officer was introduced for the first time by the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education.
The Office of Education publicly recruited the public relations officer through its website on April 6, and after selecting four successful candidates through document screening on the 8th of last month, the final announcement was made.
Park Se-jong, who was selected, is the successor to Oh Jun-kyung, the current public relations officer whose term is about to expire, and is scheduled to be officially appointed on the 1st of next month in line with the general personnel appointment. The position is equivalent to a local government secretary or grade 4 general official.
The open-type public relations officer is expected to perform duties for two years after appointment, with the possibility of extension up to a total of five years depending on work performance.
The main duties include ▲establishing and coordinating comprehensive plans for Jeonnam education public relations and promotion administration ▲discovering news issues and providing press releases and interview support ▲monitoring and analyzing media coverage ▲establishing and implementing media promotion plans for Jeonnam education policies ▲planning and coordinating media interviews ▲establishing and implementing subscription plans for newspapers and periodicals, overseeing practical promotion activities.
The personnel committee was composed of five external members, including university professors and journalists, to ensure fairness. The evaluation was conducted through document screening and interviews by the selection committee.
Park’s selection is believed to have received high scores in this evaluation due to his deep understanding of Superintendent Jang Seok-woong’s educational philosophy and his excellent political acumen.
Park Se-jong, the prospective public relations officer, has served as the public relations officer and public relations team leader at Chonnam National University, as well as a full-time researcher at the Media Public Relations Research Institute. Since July 2018, he has been appointed and serving as a secretary in the public relations field at the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education.

An official from the Office of Education said, “Park, the nominee, has a strong track record in media public relations and has formed various networks with journalists. In particular, he empathizes more than anyone else with Superintendent Jang Seok-woong’s educational philosophy of not giving up on any child, and is expected to take the lead in promotion that aligns with this vision.”
