Organized Crime Group Dismantled for Extorting Over 1 Billion Won by Threatening with "Sexual Video"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] An organization that threatened dozens of people by claiming to have sex videos and extorted about 1 billion KRW has been completely dismantled.
The Gwangju Northern Police Station announced on the 1st that they have sent 13 people, including the ringleader A (31), to the prosecution on charges of blackmail and other offenses for threatening men and extorting money using a list from a prostitution brokerage site.
A and others are accused of contacting 49 men between June and September of last year, threatening to distribute sex videos to their families and workplaces, and embezzling a total of 1,043,400,000 KRW.
Investigations revealed that they confirmed personal information through customer lists obtained from prostitution establishments and called each man individually to threaten them.
Although the sex videos they claimed to have were all false, the victims were deceived and transferred money.
