Toyota Korea Motors Launches '2020 Toyota Weekend Farmer' Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Toyota Motor Korea announced on the 1st that it held an online event on May 30th at the Nongmin Hall located in Paldal-gu, Suwon City, marking the start of the ‘2020 Toyota Weekend Farmer’ program.
Although the planned opening event was canceled due to the recent spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), an online briefing session was held for the 45 families selected through public recruitment as Toyota Weekend Farmers, introducing the program and assigning garden plots.
The ‘Toyota Weekend Farmer’ program, held in cooperation with the Korea Rural Leaders Central Association, is now in its 9th year. Participants cultivate their own garden plots using eco-friendly organic farming methods, and part of the harvested crops are donated to the social welfare corporation Anna’s House, practicing neighborly love. Starting with the garden plot assignments on this day, various experiential events are prepared monthly for six months. In particular, in November, a ‘Sharing Love Kimchi Making’ event is scheduled, where kimchi will be made and donated using napa cabbage grown directly in the garden plots.
