[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] “Expensive toys, you can't buy them every time, and there's no suitable place to rent them?”
Yongsan-gu (District Mayor Seong Jang-hyun) is starting the ‘Ainori Toyland’ delivery service from this month for residents who want a non-face-to-face toy rental service due to concerns about COVID-19 infection.
The service is available to registered members of Toyland, and if you apply for the service on the website from Tuesday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., the person in charge will send the toys via courier the next day (applications on Friday and Saturday will be sent the following Tuesday).
The number of toys that can be rented is 2 for associate members and 3 for regular members. Cancellation after shipment is not possible. Returns can be made again by courier, and after the facility reopens (scheduled for June 15), in-person returns will also be possible.
The toy rental is free, but the courier cost is self-paid (rental is cash on delivery, return is prepaid). However, people with disabilities, basic livelihood security recipients, single-parent and multicultural families, pregnant women, and families with multiple children can use the courier service for free.
A district official said, “Although we perform cleaning and disinfection when collecting toys, we ask each household to clean the toys once more before use.”
Ainori Toyland is located on the first floor of Yongsan Dream Tree Complex Town (329 Baekbeom-ro). As of May, it has 2,264 toys and is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. However, currently, the entire Dream Tree Complex Town is closed (since February 25), so only reservation loans are available besides the delivery service. It operates via Drive and Walking Thru methods. After making a reservation on the website (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), you can pick up items by car or on foot at the Dream Tree Complex Town parking lot the next day.
The reservation loan capacity is 50 people per day. Both regular and associate members can borrow 2 toys for free. Returns are made when the facility reopens.
