Gyeonggi-do to Pay Emergency Disaster Relief Fund Underpaid Due to Moving... 16,000 Households
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide additional emergency disaster relief funds to about 16,000 households who received less due to moving.
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 31st that from the 1st of next month, it will additionally pay emergency disaster relief funds that some households who moved into the province from other cities and provinces between March 24-28 and those who moved out to other cities and provinces between March 30 and April 8 did not receive.
This compensates for the unpaid difference for households who moved to other cities or provinces during the period or moved into Gyeonggi Province from other regions and did not receive Gyeonggi Province's disaster basic income but received less government emergency disaster relief funds.
This unpaid situation occurred because the payment criteria dates and funding structures differ between the government's emergency disaster relief funds and Gyeonggi Province's disaster basic income.
For example, a four-person household living in Incheon that moved into Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province on March 24 cannot receive Gyeonggi Province's disaster basic income, which is paid based on the status as of midnight on March 23.
However, on the government's emergency disaster relief fund payment criteria date of March 29, they are classified as Gyeonggi residents and receive 871,000 KRW, which is less than the government standard amount of 1,000,000 KRW.
Conversely, if a four-person household living in Yongin City moved to Jeollanam-do on March 31, they were still Gyeonggi residents on the government's emergency disaster relief fund payment criteria date, so they also receive 870,000 KRW, less than the government standard amount.
Accordingly, residents who moved in or out of other cities or provinces during the period will receive additional payments of ▲129,000 KRW for a 4-person household ▲103,000 KRW for a 3-person household ▲77,000 KRW for a 2-person household ▲52,000 KRW for a 1-person household.
The number of eligible households is estimated to be about 16,000.
However, if the city or county disaster basic income exceeds the government support amount due to differences in payment criteria dates by city or county, additional support will be excluded. Only the amount less than the government standard amount will be compensated.
In the case of Suwon City, the payment criteria date was the 2nd of last month, so if a four-person family moved to Suwon City on March 28, they would receive 871,000 KRW from the government support fund, 0 KRW from Gyeonggi Province disaster basic income, and 400,000 KRW from Suwon City disaster basic income, totaling 1,271,000 KRW, which exceeds the government support amount of 1,000,000 KRW, thus excluding them from this additional support.
