Jeonju City Launches Blood Donation Campaign to Overcome Local Blood Supply Challenges...
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Gominhyung] As the blood donation population decreases due to the impact of COVID-19, causing a serious blood supply shortage, Jeonju City is launching a blood donation campaign.
The Jeonju City Health Center (Director Kim Sinseon) held the '2020 Jeonju City Blood Donation Promotion Council' on the 29th to seek institutional improvement measures for stabilizing blood supply and to devise ways to secure blood donation resources centered on the local community, beyond the response system between the government and the Korean Red Cross.
Attendees at the council included officials from Jeonju City, Jeonju Office of Education, Jeonju Chamber of Commerce, Jeonju Sports Council, Red Cross Blood Center, and the Construction and Disaster Prevention teams of Wansan and Deokjin District Offices.
The participating committee members discussed ways to promote the importance of blood donation in ways easily accessible to citizens and agreed to encourage group blood donations targeting companies and public offices to expand participation among middle-aged and older donors.
The city plans to conduct the 'Love Blood Donation Campaign' to support stable blood supply from the 4th to the 8th of next month for three days at Jeonju City Hall, Wansan District Office, and Deokjin District Office, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
