Namwon-si, Public-Private-Military Cooperation River Cleanup Activity 'Sweat and Effort'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Approximately 160 employees from Namwon City’s Environment Department and members of the 3rd Battalion of the 7733 Unit carried out a river cleanup activity on the 29th to make Namwon cleaner.
The volunteer activity, conducted along the Yocheon riverside, covered a 6 km section from Namwon Bridge to Jusaeng-myeon Ecological Wetland Park. To maintain clean river water quality and improve the surrounding environment, they collected trash, removed invasive plant species, and inspected citizen safety facilities as part of the cleanup work.
The riverside cleanup is an important task to restore a natural ecological river by removing dirt caused by discarded household waste, airborne dust, and sewage inflow during the rainy season.
In particular, this cleanup activity involved multifaceted environmental sanitation efforts to create a river ecological environment, providing a resting space for citizens exhausted by COVID-19, offering emotional stability, and establishing a waterfront space. Despite the hot weather, participants actively engaged in the work, sweating profusely.
