Jinju-si, Illegal Waste Dumping Site in Mountainous Area Detected Under Cover of Darkness
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced that at around 00:30 on the 27th, it detected an illegal waste dumping site in a mountain and apprehended three drivers transporting the waste on the spot, currently verifying the situation.
On the 26th at around 23:50, the city received a complaint at Daegok Police Substation that a suspicious large truck was entering the mountain area of Eo-ok-ri, Micheon-myeon, and dispatched a joint police team to the scene.
Waste equivalent to one 25-ton truck was dumped on a hill in the mountain, and three trucks were preparing to dump waste and leave the site. The drivers were apprehended, and the site supervisor who fled and the excavator operator have been summoned for investigation.

The city stated that after the investigation of the related parties is completed, they plan to file a complaint with the Jinju Police Station under the Waste Management Act. Due to concerns about soil contamination from exposed waste, the waste stockpiled in the mountain will be covered to minimize pollution.
