Gwangju Gwangsan-gu 'Resident Participation Budget School' Opens
Ensuring Resident Participation and Capacity Building Throughout the Entire Budget Planning Process
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Samho) announced on the 27th that it has opened the '2020 Gwangsan-gu Resident Participatory Budget School,' which guarantees resident participation throughout the entire budgeting process and strengthens their capabilities.
This Resident Participatory Budget School will be held twice each for introductory and advanced courses every Thursday and Friday until the 5th of next month at the Wolgok-dong Youth Culture House 'Yaho Center.'
The practical training content includes ▲Understanding the Resident Participatory Budget System ▲Resident Participatory Budget Theory Education in the Era of Decentralization ▲Discovering Village Issues and Writing Proposals ▲Understanding the Roles of Resident Participatory Budget Committee Members, among others.
A Gwangsan-gu official said, "We hope for active participation from citizens, including members of the Resident Autonomy Committee, in the Resident Participatory Budget System education, which will serve as the foundation for promoting projects essential to the village."

Meanwhile, last year, Gwangsan-gu received a total of 65 proposed projects through the Resident Participatory Budget System and allocated 514 million KRW in the 2020 main budget for 32 projects related to resolving residents' inconveniences and improving quality of life.
