Active Police Officer Caught Sleeping Drunk in the Middle of the Road
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Seulgi Kim] An active-duty police officer was caught by the police asleep in the middle of the road after drinking alcohol and taking the wheel.
Jeonbuk Jeonju Deokjin Police Station announced on the 27th that Officer A was booked on charges of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
Officer A, affiliated with Deokjin Police Station, is suspected of driving his car while intoxicated on a road in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju City, around 9 p.m. on the 25th.
The police responded to a citizen's report that "a car is not moving in the middle of the road" and apprehended Officer A at the scene.
Officer A's blood alcohol concentration was at a level corresponding to license suspension.
He reportedly stated, "I drove because the designated driver did not come."

A police official said, "To ensure the reliability of the investigation, Officer A will be investigated at a different police station."
