Prosecution Appeals Yoo Jae-su Bribery Case... "Reason for Unfair Sentencing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] The prosecution has filed an appeal against the first trial verdict of Yoo Jae-soo, former Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs of Busan.
On the 26th, the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office stated, "After reviewing the first trial verdict, there are significant reasons for improper sentencing, including factual errors, legal misinterpretations, and violations of sentencing guidelines," and submitted an appeal to the court.
Earlier, on the 22nd, the first trial court sentenced former Deputy Mayor Yoo to 1 year and 6 months in prison with a 3-year probation. Additionally, a fine of 90 million won and a confiscation of 42.21 million won were ordered.

Former Deputy Mayor Yoo was arrested and indicted last December on charges of receiving bribes and engaging in corrupt acts from four individuals, including representatives of financial companies, totaling approximately 47 million won during his tenure at the Financial Services Commission from 2010 to 2018. However, he was released after receiving a suspended sentence.
