Development of Three Geoje Island Ports into Tourism-Specialized Ports
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Public Corporation announced on the 26th that it has prepared a business plan to develop three ports on Geoje Island into tourism-specialized ports.
This is part of the government's 'Fishing Village New Deal Project' aimed at developing underdeveloped fishing villages.
The corporation conducted the first round of expert on-site consultations on Sanjeon Port, Yegu Port, and Jeogu Port on Geoje Island from the 18th to 19th, and decided to invest 30.4 billion KRW by next year to proceed with the development.
At Sanjeon Port, projects such as expanding fishing port facilities, reinforcing docks, and constructing a fisheries-specialized plaza will be carried out. The corporation plans to develop Sanjeon Port into an experience-specialized tourist island by leveraging its good accessibility from the mainland.
For Yegu Port, the plan is to build mooring facilities and construct a land bridge between Gonggot-i and Naedo to activate tourism.
At Jeogu Port, while expanding the passenger ship terminal, the development will be aligned with the 'Hydrangea Theme Project' and other methods to suit the characteristics of the port of call, which sees 200,000 visitors annually.
