Seocho-gu Receives Highest SA Grade in Pledge Fulfillment Evaluation for 4 Consecutive Years
Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters Achieves Highest Grade (SA) in '2020 Nationwide Basic Local Government Heads Pledge Implementation and Information Disclosure Evaluation,' Resulting from Resident-Focused Empathetic Administration Listening to Citizens' Voices
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu (Mayor Eunhee Jo) has achieved the highest grade ‘SA’ for the fourth consecutive year in the '2020 Nationwide Basic Local Government Heads Pledge Fulfillment and Information Disclosure Evaluation,' jointly hosted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters and others.
This evaluation, conducted by the Korea Manifesto Evaluation Group, assessed 226 basic local government heads nationwide from March based on the status as of December 31, 2019, in five areas: △Pledge Fulfillment Completion △2019 Pledge Goal Achievement △Resident Communication △Web Communication △Pledge Consistency, and classified the results into five grades from SA to D.
The district received a comprehensive score of 65 or higher this year, earning the highest 'SA' grade.
This evaluation is the fruit of the district’s resident-centered communication and various empathetic administrative efforts keeping pace with the rapidly changing times.
The 7th elected term pledges actively promote 50 projects across nine major fields reflecting residents’ needs and social issues: ▲Safety ▲Transportation ▲Welfare ▲Economy ▲Environment & Health ▲Urban & Regeneration ▲Childcare & Education ▲Culture & Sports ▲Communication.
The district has directly listened to residents’ voices through various ‘Talk’ channels such as School Talk, Safety Talk, Apartment Talk, and Childcare Talk, promoting communication that residents can feel.
‘Seoripul Wondumak,’ created to offer a small shade to residents waiting at traffic lights under the scorching sun and benchmarked by local governments nationwide; ‘Seoripul Igloo,’ which blocks the biting winter wind; and ‘Eco (Radon) Guardian,’ which alleviates residents’ concerns about environmental issues like radon?these are the results of ‘life-close empathetic administration.’
Additionally, the district is leading nationwide standards with various innovative administrations for the first time.
To meticulously cover blind spots in the region, it established the nation’s first Single-Person Household Support Center, providing diverse services such as the Single Single Culture Class, and installed the nation’s first IT Experience Zone and implemented the Smart Senior project to reduce the information gap among the elderly.
It is also pioneering in major urban infrastructure development pledges. It is promoting the designation of the nation’s first Music Culture District, which gathers Korea’s representative cultural and artistic infrastructure, and the construction of one library per zone. It has clearly resolved long-standing resident demands such as the opening of the Seoripul Tunnel, which fully connects Seocho-daero after 40 years of interruption, and the commencement of the Yangchaecheon Right Bank Road, which alleviates chronic commuting congestion.
