JTBC States "'Ssanggap Pocha' PD Jeon Chang-geun Has No Acquaintance with Jang Ja-yeon"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] JTBC strongly opposed the allegations linking director Jeon Chang-geun of the drama 'Ssanggap Pocha' to the 'Jang Ja-yeon list.'
On the 26th, JTBC stated, "We are clarifying JTBC's position regarding the controversy surrounding the drama 'Ssanggap Pocha' and director Jeon Chang-geun. The police investigation into Jeon Chang-geun PD's involvement in the Jang Ja-yeon list was closed in 2009 with no charges."
They continued, "Jeon Chang-geun PD sincerely cooperated with the investigation to prove his innocence, and the police even examined phone call records and conducted DNA tests," adding, "The investigation revealed that Jeon Chang-geun PD had no acquaintance with the late Jang Ja-yeon and had no connection with anyone from her agency."
Furthermore, "JTBC has completed verification of the above information. Nevertheless, recently, there have been repeated cases online where Jeon Chang-geun PD and the drama 'Ssanggap Pocha' are unilaterally linked to the Jang Ja-yeon list, spreading rumors and defamation," expressing concern that "some media outlets have even reported these phenomena online without verifying the facts."
JTBC stated, "This is reckless criticism and close to personal attacks that contradict the police investigation results. Therefore, JTBC plans to take strict legal action against acts of criticizing our staff and programs without clear evidence. We ask that unfounded speculation be refrained from to prevent further harm."
