On the 26th, the Ministry of Education announced a comprehensive plan for science, mathematics, information, and convergence education. The Education Convergence Committee, which included related government departments and academic experts, conducted discussions for over a year to enhance field applicability by communicating with education offices and teachers. A Ministry of Education official stated, "Unlike previous plans developed independently, we aimed to establish an effective policy by simultaneously creating a mid- to long-term comprehensive plan across four policy areas."
Through this comprehensive plan, 'Intelligent Science Labs' applying cutting-edge technology will be established in all schools by 2024. These Intelligent Science Labs will support both online and offline environments based on technologies such as AI, AR, and VR. Additionally, a math learning support system utilizing AI will provide accurate learning diagnostics and customized learning. Teaching materials that allow students to learn difficult concepts through visual aids and hands-on experiences will also be provided.
Furthermore, to discover and nurture talent, a gifted education system will be established by redefining the roles of science high schools and gifted schools. Connections between gifted classes in elementary and middle schools, gifted education centers, high schools, and science and technology specialized universities will be strengthened, and new admission procedures aligned with the founding purpose of gifted education institutions will be introduced. Moreover, various subjects will be developed and instructional hours increased so that all students can develop basic competencies in information and AI, as well as cultivate their talents and aptitudes.
