Gyeongnam Office of Education Provides Emergency Support for Quarantine Activities and Student Life Guidance Personnel
Spent 2.234 Billion Won, 2,709 Supported Across All Schools in the Province (Including Kindergartens)
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 26th that it will urgently provide 2,709 personnel to support COVID-19 prevention activities and student life guidance to all schools in preparation for the return of all students to in-person classes.
Following the return of third-year high school students, as all students at various school levels gradually return to school, the office is prioritizing student safety after the resumption of in-person classes. To ensure safe educational activities, reduce teachers' workload, and establish early academic operations, external personnel will be utilized to promptly strengthen prevention activities and student life guidance.
In particular, with second-year high school students, third-year middle school students, as well as first- and second-grade elementary students and kindergarteners starting in-person classes on the 27th, how prevention activities such as mask-wearing and maintaining safe distances between students, along with student life guidance, are conducted after the return of younger students will determine the success of school prevention efforts.
The personnel supporting prevention activities and student life guidance will be responsible for guiding students outside of class hours to maintain appropriate distances, wear masks, maintain order in cafeterias, and prevent droplet and physical contact infections. Additionally, depending on each school's situation, they will broadly perform roles such as temperature checks during arrival and dismissal, managing prevention supplies, and supporting health room operations. All available support personnel, including after-school instructors, part-time lecturers, retired teachers, parent helpers, and volunteers, will be utilized.
The office selected 2,709 personnel with a budget of approximately 2.234 billion won and will provide differentiated support of 1 to 4 personnel per school according to the number of students at all schools in the province, including kindergartens, elementary, middle, high, special, and various other schools that wish to participate.
