Jeongdong Theater's 'Yang Junmo's Opera Date' on the 24th of next month... Tenor Kim Hyunsoo as Guest
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Jeongdong Theater will present the second stage of the brunch concert 'Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date' at 11 a.m. on June 24. 'Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date' is an opera talk concert with commentary, where musical actor Yang Jun-mo invites a new guest each time to share conversations and performances on different themes.
The first stage of Yang Jun-mo's Opera Date on May 1 was held as a no-audience online broadcast to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Under the theme 'Classics Encountered in Movies,' actor Yang Jun-mo and baritone Yang Jun-mo, who share the same name, performed together.
The second stage on June 24 will be held offline at Jeongdong Theater. However, as part of the 'social distancing' campaign, seating will be arranged with 'one seat apart' spacing.
The theme of the second stage is 'Love Stories in Opera.' It will explore various forms of 'love,' the fundamental source of inspiration for all arts, including first love, unrequited love, betrayal, separation, revenge, passion, impossible love, and last love, through conversation and music. Tenor Kim Hyun-soo and pianist Oh Eun-cheol will join as guests.
Kim Hyun-soo is a member of 'Forte di Quattro,' the inaugural winning team of JTBC's crossover male quartet audition program 'Phantom Singer.' Oh Eun-cheol performs with 'Forte di Quattro' and has been involved in composing music for films such as 'Departure,' 'Glass Garden,' Channel A drama 'Touch,' as well as arranging albums like 'Hope Song' by Hong Hye-ran, winner of the Queen Elisabeth Competition. He continues diverse performances in classical, crossover, tango, and popular music genres.
In this performance, Kim Hyun-soo will sing 'Un'aura amorosa' from Mozart's opera 'Cos? fan tutte,' 'Una furtiva lacrima' from Donizetti's opera 'L'elisir d'amore,' and 'Lascia ch'io pianga' from Handel's opera 'Rinaldo.' Besides singing, audiences can hear personal and candid stories from tenor Kim Hyun-soo about his experience on 'Phantom Singer' and his life and concerns as a vocal major.
Kim Hyun-soo will also duet with MC Yang Jun-mo and Hyun Jae-myung on 'Sarangga' from the opera 'Chunhyangjeon.' Additionally, there will be an 'Opera 1-Minute Review' introducing major operas such as Verdi's 'Rigoletto,' Mozart's 'The Magic Flute,' and Puccini's 'Tosca' in a simple and entertaining way.
