Pohang City Provides 500,000 Won Each to Unpaid Leave Workers and Freelancers Affected by COVID-19
4148 Selected for the First March Project... Applications for the Second Project Open Until the 29th
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongwook Park] Pohang City, Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that it has finalized the first payment recipients for the 'Special Support Project for Local Employment Response to COVID-19,' which accepted applications from the 9th to the 29th of last month, and will pay 500,000 KRW per individual into their accounts on the 26th.
This project is a program that supports unpaid leave workers, special-type workers, freelancers, and others who have been affected by the spread of COVID-19. Among 4,419 applicants, Pohang City explained that it decided to provide approximately 2.07 billion KRW in national funds to 4,148 people after excluding incomplete documents and duplicate applications.
The second application period started on the 18th and will run until the 29th. Eligible applicants include workers at businesses with fewer than 100 employees who have taken unpaid leave for five or more days during April, special-type workers or freelancers who have not provided labor for five or more days, or whose income has decreased by 25% or more.
Unpaid leave workers should apply directly at the Pohang Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while special-type workers and freelancers can visit the Gyeongbuk Eastern Employers Association in person or apply online through the Pohang City Hall website.
