View original image[Asia Economy (Daegu) = Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] On the 25th, as comfort women victim grandmother Lee Yong-soo held her second press conference regarding the Justice and Memory Foundation issue, more than 200 members of the press gathered, causing confusion that led to the venue being changed twice.
The press conference was originally scheduled for 2 p.m. at a tea house in Nam-gu, Daegu, but due to over 200 reporters arriving early in the morning, the venue was changed twice. The initially planned tea house was too small, forcing the press to stand closely packed in a cramped space while waiting.
Concerns about COVID-19 infection and poor reporting conditions were raised, prompting the 'Citizens' Group with Grandmothers of the Japanese Military Sexual Slavery Victims' who assisted the conference to select a wedding hall in Suseong-gu, Daegu, as an alternative venue around 1 p.m., one hour before the conference. When that was not feasible, the venue was changed again to Hotel Inter-Burgo Daegu, also located in Suseong-gu.
Despite these incidents, it appears that the grandmother's press conference will proceed normally at 2 p.m. that day.
Through this second conference, the grandmother is expected to express a more advanced stance on the defamation against her by the Justice and Memory Foundation since the first conference on the 7th, the statements they released, and the newly revealed various accounting irregularities. Additionally, she may urge the direction of the Wednesday Demonstrations and the broader comfort women movement, as well as call for decisive action from the Justice and Memory Foundation as the central organization of the comfort women movement. The grandmother has previously demanded a shift in the comfort women movement led by the Korean Council for Justice and Remembrance for the Issues of Military Sexual Slavery by Japan (Jeongdaehyeop) and the Justice and Memory Foundation toward 'proper education for students.'
