Jinju City Prepares for This Summer's Heatwave Starting at City Bus Stops
Cooling Fog System, Shaded Film-Applied Platforms, Smart Clean Platforms, etc.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 25th that this summer's temperatures are expected to be higher than average with more heatwave days, and it will continue to implement heatwave countermeasures in the public transportation sector to cope with the heat.
According to the city, last summer, a cooling fog system that sprays purified water as artificial mist was pilot-installed and operated at four busy city bus stops (Nongae Market, Jungang Market, Jinju City Hall, Gyeongsang National University). As a result, the surrounding temperature was lowered by about 3 to 5 degrees Celsius, and user satisfaction was high. Therefore, the city plans to expand the installation to three additional locations this year.
Additionally, the city expects that once the project to attach shading film that reduces sunlight transmittance is completed at 212 bus stops in the urban area, it will alleviate the discomfort of citizens waiting for city buses.
In particular, this year, the city plans to promote the installation of new bus stops mainly in rural areas vulnerable to heatwaves, providing rest spaces so that passengers, including elderly seniors, can avoid the heat.
Furthermore, six recently installed Smart Clean bus stops in the Chungmugong-dong area (Namdong Power, LH Headquarters, Chungmugong-dong Administrative Welfare Center, LH Complex 8) have been equipped with heating and cooling facilities inside, allowing passengers to wait for city buses in a comfortable environment.
