Suwon City Adjusts Household Waste Collection Hours from 5 AM to 2 PM Between June and September
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province will adjust the collection time for household waste during the summer season, when heatwaves are expected, to 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Citizens can dispose of their trash as usual from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, regardless of the change in collection time.
On the 25th, Suwon City announced that from June to September, considering sunrise times, the household waste collection time will be adjusted from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. to 5 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Earlier, to improve the working conditions of cleaning workers, the city revised the ordinance on waste disposal times and adjusted collection routes, changing the working hours from the original 3 a.m. to 12 p.m. to 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., a 3-hour delay, starting this January.
Since the implementation of daytime work, the satisfaction level of Suwon City cleaning workers has been high.
According to a survey conducted by the city from the 1st to the 3rd of last month targeting 515 workers from 13 cleaning agencies, positive responses such as "very good" (193 people), "good" (241 people), and "average" (63 people) accounted for 96.5%.

A city official stated, "We will strive to minimize citizen inconvenience by flexibly adjusting summer working hours," and added, "After monitoring this summer's working hours change, we plan to finalize the working hours for cleaning workers next year."
