Positive Response to Seodaemun-gu Out-of-School Youth Online Program

Out-of-School Youth Participate in 'Online Soap Making' and 'Smart Cooking' Activities

Seodaemun-gu School Out-of-School Youth Support Center 'Kkumdeulim' received great responses by conducting the 'Online Soap Making' and 'Wise Cooking' programs.

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] The Seodaemun-gu Out-of-School Youth Support Center ‘Kkumdeulim’ has recently conducted various programs during the COVID-19 closure period, receiving great responses.

‘Kkumdeulim’ offered programs such as ‘Online Soap Making’ and ‘Smart Cooking’ that youth can safely enjoy at home, provided ‘Online Course Passes’ for the qualification exam preparation, and offered the Dream Up Mentoring Team’s ‘Mobile Learning Support Service.’

Twenty-eight out-of-school youths received program material kits by mail, referred to online videos produced by the center, created the projects themselves, and shared photos of their results.

The youths expressed their thoughts on the activities, saying, “I felt frustrated staying at home, but it was good to easily follow along with the videos,” and “It will be memorable to serve dinner to my parents on Parents’ Day.”

Additionally, the Dream Up Mentoring Team’s mobile learning guidance, conducted through video calls, voice calls, texts, and sharing solution process videos, matched five mentors and five mentees one-on-one.

Participants said, “The teacher explained the solution process easily and quickly, which was helpful.”

Such diverse non-face-to-face program activities are evaluated to have greatly helped out-of-school youths overcome the COVID-19 situation healthily and positively.

The Seodaemun-gu Youth Support Center (Director Han Gwiyoung) plans to continue various services such as phone counseling, online psychological tests, academic return support, and self-reliance assistance until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes.
