The Sinchang 2-ri Port Fishing Village New Deal project began construction in September last year. With a total investment of 10.3 billion KRW, including 4.5 billion KRW last year and 5.8 billion KRW this year, the project involves creating a marine ecological playground and dredging the fishing port.
The marine ecological playground is a 2,000㎡ natural seawater pool utilizing leftover coastal space along the coastal road built between the rugged rocks and the sea. Pipes are installed to bring in seawater and control the water level.
Pohang City will start the second phase of the project, which includes constructing a living culture center and a coastal scenic trail, as soon as this construction is completed.
