Permission Granted to Export 160,000 Masks to Overseas Construction Site Workers
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] The government has approved the export of 159,228 masks to strengthen quarantine management at overseas construction sites amid the global spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 22nd that it conducted a survey on the demand and status of masks among overseas construction companies and, after close consultations with related ministries such as the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, received final export approval on the 21st.
Since March 6, under the 'Emergency Supply and Demand Adjustment Measures for Masks and Hand Sanitizers,' the export of masks has been generally prohibited. For overseas construction workers, export was only allowed through family members residing in Korea.
