View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chae-seok] Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K-SURE) announced on the 21st that it will hold the 'K-SURE Online Foreign Exchange Forum' in line with the 32nd 'Small and Medium Business Week.'
Since 2008, K-SURE has regularly held foreign exchange forums and provided exchange rate forecasts and foreign exchange risk management consulting to small and medium-sized export companies.
This forum will be held online for the first time as part of social distancing measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
A current foreign exchange expert from KB Kookmin Bank will give a lecture on 'Foreign Exchange Market Trends and Exchange Rate Forecasts After COVID-19.' The forum will also introduce the foreign exchange fluctuation insurance system, a major foreign exchange risk management tool for small and medium-sized export companies.
K-SURE explained that foreign exchange fluctuation insurance is a system designed to hedge foreign exchange risk for small and medium-sized companies vulnerable to exchange rate volatility.
It operates by compensating for losses caused by exchange rate declines and recovering profits from exchange rate increases.
The forum video materials will be posted on K-SURE's Foreign Exchange Risk Management Support Center website and official YouTube and Instagram accounts from 2 p.m. on the 22nd for one week.
Since the 4th, consulting services on foreign exchange risk management systems for small and medium-sized companies have been expanded from face-to-face to include video conferencing.
A survey on the status of foreign exchange risk management conducted in March showed that respondents had a high preference for foreign exchange risk management consulting services.
Accordingly, K-SURE has set a plan to continuously expand non-face-to-face consulting to support strengthening the foreign exchange risk hedging capabilities of small and medium-sized export companies.

Lee In-ho, President of K-SURE, said, "Due to the spread of COVID-19, it has been difficult for small and medium-sized export companies to attend offline events, so we are holding the online forum for the first time." He added, "Through non-face-to-face foreign exchange risk management consulting and customized services for export small and medium-sized companies vulnerable to exchange rate fluctuations, we will contribute to enhancing export vitality promoted by the government."
