Yeongsangang Regional Environmental Office Conducts Free Water Quality Testing for Social Welfare Facilities
Korea Water Resources Corporation Linked Demand Survey Next Month... Full-Scale Implementation from July
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office (Director Ryu Yeon-gi) announced on the 20th that it will provide free water quality testing services for social welfare facilities where socially vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and disabled people reside.
This free water quality testing service is being promoted as part of an environmental welfare project in collaboration with the Korea Water Resources Corporation Yeongseom River Basin Headquarters (Head Choi Deungho).
A demand survey will be conducted next month, and the main testing will take place in July and August. The test results will be directly notified to the social welfare facilities.
The target facilities are 40 social welfare facilities in Jeonnam region that use groundwater as drinking water in areas not supplied with tap water.
Water quality testing will be conducted by the Yeongsangang River Basin Environmental Office and Korea Water Resources Corporation, who will directly visit the sites to collect samples based on 47 drinking groundwater quality standards.
Facilities exceeding the water quality standards will be reported to the relevant local governments to request appropriate measures. If measures are difficult, the facilities will be encouraged to participate in the Ministry of Environment’s Safe Groundwater Project to receive support for groundwater environment and well improvement.
