On the 20th, Attorney No Jong-eon of the law firm S, who is representing Gu's legal affairs, said in an interview with Star News, "Although it did not pass the National Assembly this time, this is not the end. This amendment was not rejected because it goes against universal justice," he said.
Attorney No added, "We will work to supplement various parts and strive for the passage in the National Assembly. Currently, there are too many bills pending in the National Assembly, and some are not processed properly without even being reviewed," adding, "It seems that the review process for the passage of the 'Gu Hara Act' was physically pressed for time."
He continued, "Democratic Party lawmaker Seo Young-kyo had previously submitted a similar amendment to the 'Gu Hara Act' to the National Assembly," and added, "We are continuing preparations for passage by supplementing the amendment prepared with Gu and the one prepared by Representative Seo together."
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 19th, the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee held the 1st Subcommittee on Bill Examination and decided to 'continue examination' of five proposed amendments to the Civil Act submitted that day. The 'continue examination' decision means the committee will continue reviewing the bills in the next session, but since this subcommittee meeting was the last of the 20th National Assembly, the bills are effectively considered discarded.
