The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) announced on the 20th that the 'Materials, Parts, and Equipment Convergence Innovation Support Group' held its first steering committee meeting on the afternoon of the 19th at the Korea Technology Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The support group is a consortium of research institutions established based on Article 28 of the 'Special Measures Act to Strengthen the Competitiveness of the Materials, Parts, and Equipment Industry.' Thirty-two organizations, including KIAT, participated and launched the group on the 7th of last month.
When difficulties from materials, parts, and equipment companies are received by the support group, public research centers provide services such as resolving technical difficulties, dispatching personnel, improving reliability, and evaluating mass production performance to the companies.
At the first steering committee meeting, four agenda items, including the establishment of the support group's operating regulations, were approved.
The support group first opened a dedicated contact center and website. At the offline consultation desk, six dedicated personnel from KIAT and dispatched staff from five representative institutions are stationed.
The offline desk is located on the 13th floor of the Korea Technology Center, 305 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. The five representative institutions are the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology, the Korea Institute of Materials Science, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, and the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials.
Earlier, at the '4th Materials, Parts, and Equipment Competitiveness Enhancement Committee' chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki on the 13th, an agenda to strengthen support for materials, parts, and equipment companies centered on the support group was approved.
Since the first steering committee concretized the composition of subcommittees, rules, and regulations, it is expected that more active corporate support services will be provided in the future.
