[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province plans to reduce the number of child abuse cases by about 20% this year and is expanding cooperation with related organizations.
On the afternoon of the 20th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will hold the "1st Networking Meeting of Related Organizations for Zero Child Abuse in Daycare Centers" at the Gyeonggi Province Childcare Support Center in Suwon.
At the meeting, 50 participants including public officials in charge of child abuse at daycare centers from 31 cities and counties in the province, representatives from the Southern Provincial Police Agency, and 14 child protection agencies will share child abuse cases by city and county and discuss ▲ guidance on amendments to the Infant Care Act related to child abuse prevention this year ▲ cooperation matters among child protection agencies, the police agency, the province, and each city and county.
Child abuse in daycare centers has been increasing in reported cases within the province due to the enforcement of the "Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes" and changes in parents' social awareness. Accordingly, the province has set the primary goal for this year to reduce the number of abuse cases by 20% compared to last year to eradicate child abuse within the province.
